Waverton acquires 80-staff London Financial Planner
Waverton Investment Management has acquired London-based Financial Planning and investment advisory business Timothy James & Partners for an undisclosed sum.
The two West End-based firms say the deal will combine Waverton’s investment management expertise and Timothy James’ Financial Planning experience.
This acquisition means Waverton will be able to add full Financial Planning services to its discretionary investment management.
The combined business will offer advice on inheritance tax, pensions, corporate finance, mortgages, savings and corporate and personal protection.
Timothy James & Partners will retain its brand and identity and continue to operate from its West End offices as an independent financial adviser under the Waverton Group brand.
David Rosier, chairman, Waverton Investment Management, said: “This acquisition will see the merger of two highly successful businesses, creating a broader service for all our clients, with Waverton introducing a highly regarded Financial Planning service and Timothy James & Partners gaining full access to Waverton’s global investment management expertise, products and services.”
Tim Whiting, founder and managing director, Timothy James & Partners said: “We are delighted to be joining the Waverton Group. We believe there are great, complementary synergies between our two businesses and we look forward to capitalising on the opportunities this deal creates.”
Waverton Investment Management has 150 staff and about a quarter are portfolio managers with direct client relationship responsibilities. The firm is located in the West End of London and has a research office in Bangkok. It has £6.2 billion of assets under management.
Timothy James & Partners was established in December 1995 and is based in Tottenham Court Road in the West End of London. It employs more than 80 people, advises on £1.1bn of assets and has 5,000 clients.
