Chartered Planner pens podcast-inspired retirement book
Chartered Financial Planner Justin King has written a new book on retirement planning based on his experience hosting 180 episodes of his successful Retirement Café Podcast and interviewing dozens of guests.
Mr King, who runs MFP Wealth Management in Dorset, says he has distilled many of the best ideas from his podcast for the book which is designed to help people create their “ideal retirement.”
The 'Retirement Café Handbook – Nine Accelerators for a Successful Retirement' uses insights from dozens of retirement expert interviews and 30 years of helping people retire successfully, Mr King said.
He said: “When you retire, your whole life essentially collapses down to one binary question: will your money outlive you, or will you outlive your money? It’s a crucial question, but I don’t believe Financial Planning alone will ensure you live a successful retirement.”
The Retirement Café Handbook looks at mindsets, money and lifelong health.
Public health pioneer and prolific author, Professor Sir Muir Gray said of the book: “Covering not only health but much broader, deeper issues such as purpose, it should be given to everyone approaching retirement to help them ensure it is a renaissance.”
The book includes real-life stories and a touch of humour to offer a nine-step framework for retirement. It takes readers “beyond financial security,” Mr King said.
Fellow Chartered Financial Planner and founder of the MeaningfulMoney website, Pete Matthew, said: “This handbook is going to help a lot of people to think about retirement, because the sooner we can think about this stuff, the better.”
Contributors to the book include Dame Esther Rantzen, Professor Andrew J Scott, Dr Daniel Levitin, Rory Sutherland, Abraham Okusanya, David Jones, Robin Powell, Neil Bage, Greg Davies and Jacqueline Berry.
The book is released on 12 September and is available on Amazon.
