The IFP board met for its annual strategy meeting in November, welcoming Simon Boulter CFPCM and Andrew Brook-Dobson CFPCM for the first time. In addition to the two CFPCM professionals, the board also welcomed Richard Antrum as an independent director to help it with its thinking.
The board reflected on the IFP’s 2011 achievements, an extremely successful year. Particular highlights were seen as the announcement by the FSA of the IFP as an Accredited Body, the launch of the Accredited Financial Planning FirmsTM register, the inaugural Paraplanner conference, Financial Planning Week and the successful 25th Anniversary Annual Conference at Celtic Manor.
A new vision for 2015 has been created. “Inspiring Professionals, Transforming Businesses and Changing Lives – The IFP: the future of the Financial Planning Profession.”
The key objective of the meeting was planning for 2012. The IFP remains focused on member acquisition and service, given the need for all investment advisers to have a Statement of Professional Standing. Further work will be undertaken on the “cradle to grave” career development programme for Financial Planners and Paraplanners.
Growth and promotion of the Accredited Financial Planning firms and CFPCM professionals’ registers will gather momentum during the year. Work in raising consumer awareness will continue with the fifth Financial Planning Week.
The board continues to support IFP staff to lead the profession into exciting times.
