Pension-specialist John Cummings has joined Acumen Financial as an Independent Financial Adviser as part of the firm’s expansion following securing a new investor.
The expansion also sess David McDonald join the West Lancashire advice firm’s back-office team as a paraplanner.
Mr Cummings joins from InvestAcc Pension Administration where he was a business development manager. Over the past 35 years he has also held senior roles with wealth management firms AJ Bell, Ludlow and Mattioli Woods.
Angela Maher, CEO, Acumen Financial, said: “Both John and David have proved to be the right fit and crucial appointments as we look to further grow our reputation as a regional champion in the industry.”
In April Acumen attracted a strategic investment from accounting and wealth management firm One Point Advisory Services.
The amount invested by One Point has not been revealed.
The new deal is part of a partnership-led structure and will see Acumen become part of a UK-wide group of regional champions.
One Point has invested in and supported Galloways since 2018 and Pembroke since 2019. In the North West it has invested in Mitchell Charlesworth and Pierce Business Advisory and Accountancy Group.
Acumen Financial was founded in 2006 and has offices in Burscough and Nateby and manages around £440m of client investments.
The firm has 11 Financial Planners among its 23 staff who offer financial advice and planning, investment guidance, information on life insurance options, plus advice on pensions and equity release.
